Denver Chalk Art Festival

Yesterday Paul and I met my mom, dad, aunt and uncle downtown for the Chalk Art Festival. My mom mentioned she had wanted to go and it seemed like a fun idea. It is amazing what people can do with a little chalk. Here are a few of my favorites:
It was extremely hot out. So hot that I knelt down to take a picture and almost burned my knee! We did a quick lap of the festival and then went for a drink at Rock Bottom Brewery. We have a Rock Bottom at home but the people watching is much better downtown. On the way there we looked for pianos. Something else my mom had heard about was the "Your Keys to the City" program. Basically there are a number of painted pianos around Denver for anyone to play. We were hoping to find one being played. Dad improvised. Then later we found a piano being played and accompanied by dancing! You gotta love downtown. You know the dancer has been around since 1809 and he's never seen a fox shake a rattlesnake.

Is this the first time they have done the chalk art festival? They had some chalk art at Renton days that was pretty cool, but amateur.
