The Sky is Falling

I had finally made it to bed at about 11:15 last night.  I made the mistake of reading about all the things you shouldn't do when your baby is sleeping (on their back, without blankets, keep cool...).  So I was lying their with a feeling of dread, not falling asleep WHEN I heard a crashing, clanging noise.  I soon realized that it was the ceiling fan.  Some how in my in between sleep brain I thought the whole fan was surely going to crash onto us.  (It is mostly above our bed.)  So what do you do when you think you're about to be under and ceiling fan?  Why you hide under the covers saying loudly, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh!"  This woke up Paul who had been asleep for awhile and he, like a good husband, laid on top of me to protect me from the danger.  Then he thought more clearly and got up and turned off the fan.  After turning on the light we assessed the damage.  Our fan had lost one of the blades.  I flew off hit the wall on my side of the room, leaving a two inch gash and then hit the perpendicular wall and landed in a tub of pants. All is well, no one was hurt, thank goodness no babies were in our room, they would have been inches away from where the blade landed. The dog also escaped unharmed.  It is also good that the blade didn't fall off and fly in the opposite direction because we are fairly certain it would have ended with a broken window.

Your story made me laugh so hard! Not that I wasn't worried for everyone's safety, but I am pretty sure your tactics, and Paul's, wouldn't have prevented any harm. Oh, I am so glad everyone was okay and just the wall was harmed.
