Beautiful Day

Last Friday we had a teacher work day, so we could get our 3rd quarter grades done. I went in to work for about 3 hours early and then Paul and I headed up the mountain for a short hike. Maddy has always done really well on hikes. She stays close, comes when she is called and checks back. I'm not sure where she learned how to be so good because it took a while for us to trust her off leash. Rabbits, squirrels and now birds are a little too tempting to her.

The weather was beautiful. There was still snow on the ground and the path was pretty slick but overall it was a great day for a hike. We think that Maddy is an Australian Kelpie. Which would make you think that she might prefer warm weather. But she LOVES the snow. It could be falling from the sky or still on the ground and she can't get enough of it.

Ice, Ice Baby

I will eventually finish the countdown to 30, now that it has passed. But for now here is a present day post.
We have a friend who dances for the local IFL, indoor football league. She gets some free tickets to every home game. Normally the boys go but on Friday the women got to go also. I had a blast! I've decided that non-sold out games are the best. The team isn't very well known and doesn't draw a large crowd so you can kind of sit where ever you want. Also, they have all kinds of prizes, which you're more likely to win in a small crowd. Our group was fairly large so we had a couple of free shirts thrown our way. Luckily the guy who caught it didn't want that size shirt and he gave it to me... THANKS! Their free shirts are actually shirts for the team too. I also tracked down the mascot so I could get a picture. I think it might be my next goal to get pictures with all of the Colorado mascots. Who knows.During half time they played "Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader" with some fifth graders. The funny thing was they gave the wrong answer for one of them. It was about similes and metaphors. Do you know the difference? Our group was a little bugged that they now had a small crowd of kids questioning their knowledge right before CSAP begins. But we were able to make sure they knew they made a mistake. :-)
